Privacy Policy

Tara Media (Pty) Ltd, Windhoek, Namibia, runs Tara. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how to have it changed or removed. Questions are always welcome at our contact page.

Last updated: 13 October 2026.

1. Who this policy covers

It covers creators, brand (advertiser) users, and visitors to the public site. It does not cover what platforms like TikTok, Instagram, Facebook or WhatsApp do with your data on their own services — read their policies for that.

2. What we collect

  • Account details: name, email address, phone number, and for businesses the registered name, city, industry, billing email and VAT number where given.
  • Creator profiles: your social handles, follower counts as entered and as observed by our bio checks, and the verification code we ask you to place in your bio.
  • Delivery evidence: post links, the analytics screenshots you upload, tracked-link tap data, and any audience-geography screenshots a campaign requires.
  • Payout details: the bank account and payment details you give us so we can pay you.
  • Security and audit records: sign-in activity, staff actions on your account, and fraud-prevention signals such as device and timing patterns on tracked links.

3. Why we use it

  • To run the service: verifying accounts and bios, matching creators to campaigns, verifying delivery, settling earnings and issuing payouts and invoices.
  • To protect the platform: fraud detection, bot filtering, abuse prevention and our permanent audit log.
  • To communicate: campaign updates, verification results, payout notices and replies to your messages.
  • To meet our legal obligations, including tax and record-keeping.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it to train AI models.

4. Automated profile checks

When you ask us to verify a social account, our system visits the public profile you gave us (or, where the platform blocks that, a third-party data service) and looks for your verification code in the bio and the public follower count. This only reads what is already public on that profile. You can choose platforms that don't support this check — those go to our human team instead.

5. What brands see

Brands see what they funded: the campaign brief they wrote, creators' submission links, screenshots, verified view and tap numbers, and audience-geography evidence where required. Brands never see your full name, contact details, bank account or payout amounts unless you post them yourself.

6. Sharing

We share data only with the parties and services that need it to run Tara: our hosting and database provider, our payment and email services, the third-party profile-checking and scraping services used for bio and view checks, and professional advisers or authorities where the law requires. Contracts with those services restrict them to our purposes.

7. Tracked links and fraud signals

WhatsApp campaign links record the time and source of each tap, deduplicated per device for 24 hours, to measure genuine reach and filter automated tapping. We do not build advertising profiles from this data; it exists to verify delivery and prevent fraud.

8. How long we keep things

  • Account and verification records: while your account is open, then as long as tax and audit rules require.
  • Delivery evidence and audit log: kept for audit and dispute purposes; the staff activity log is permanent and uneditable by design.
  • Uploaded screenshots: kept with the submission they belong to.
  • You may ask us to close your account; we remove what the law does not require us to keep.

9. Security

Access to personal data is limited to what each role needs. Creator and brand accounts see only their own data; staff actions on your account are logged permanently. Payments are made to bank details you confirm, and we will never email asking for your password.

10. Cookies

We use the small amount of storage needed to keep you signed in and to remember your theme preference. We do not run third-party advertising or analytics trackers on the site.

11. Your rights and choices

  • Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or for it to be corrected.
  • Ask us to delete your account and the personal data we no longer need to keep.
  • Opt out of non-essential emails at any time.
  • We answer every request through the contact page, and verify your identity before acting on it.

12. Children

Tara is for people 18 and over. If we learn an account belongs to someone under 18, we close it.

13. Changes to this policy

We update this policy when the platform changes. The date at the top always reflects the current version, and material changes are announced in the app before they take effect.
